Sermon No. 8

Sermon 8

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
1Timothy 6:10

The love of money is an egregious thing. Not only is it the root of all evil, it is a demon of hell that will destroy not only your faith, but your love of family, of friends, but most importantly your love of God Almighty.

You will find that those who have more money than anybody else will only want more money. THAT is the love of money. These are people who lead lives of sin while debasing themselves and others. But make no mistake, this is not a place that angels fear to tread, but they simply are not welcome.

The Devil may reign over Hell, but only Jesus can command the demons. And that is because they fear Him, his power, just not for the reasons you think. Jesus is the candle that illuminates not just every darkness in Hell.

But Jesus becomes the candle that illuminates the good in each and every one of us so we might become the best version of ourselves. It is said God helps those who help themselves. But when we help others we become the candle in their darkness.

Yet the love of money is a bottomless pit that is shrouded in darkness because there is no light to guide them to safety. But sometimes, it is not God’s light they need. Sometimes our own light is bright enough to guide them. It is our light that acts as a beacon to the angels in Heaven.

Our beacon to the angels in Heaven is a signal that we have helped this person as much as we can. That now they must guide the Soul to salvation and back to God’s love.

We can only guide them to the door. We can only prepare them to open the door. We must rely on them to make the right choice when presented with the door. But at no point are we to push them through the door. THAT is not God’s way.

Sermon No. 7

January 15, 2019

How much better [is it] to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
~ Proverbs 16:16

Our time on Earth is charted out once we are conceived, much like the path of the Jordan River that Jesus Christ was baptized in by John the Baptist.

We learn as we grow and age. We all learn by observing, and by imitating the actions we bear witness to. But understanding comes not from imitating what we see, but by asking questions. And we must remember that both knowledge and wisdom are different.

As the disciples gathered to learn the teachings of Jesus, they learned the knowledge of how to go out into the world and preach the message that the Savior had conveyed to them. His knowledge was then conveyed to those who came to believe in Jesus. But it did not happen overnight. Nothing happens overnight. It takes time to for knowledge to be absorbed and processed.

But as the disciples went out and preached the message of Jesus, they carried with them the knowledge with them. But as they preached the message something wonderful happened. As they preached the got questions about Jesus and His message, it happened. They gained the wisdom of how to preach the message.

And after they preached the message of the Savior, Jesus Christ they returned to Jesus. And after each disciple relayed how it went, they gained the wisdom that the method each used was different, because everybody they preached to was different and grasped it differently. This is the wisdom they gleaned from applying the knowledge they had learned.

And as each disciple went out again and again to preach His message, the wisdom gained increased ten-fold and thus they became better at preaching to the masses.
